Superintendent Roach outlined a plan to elevate Andrews students to top scholastic levels, aiming for stronger reading and thinking skills while maintaining a premier campus. Tidrow leads the scholastic overhaul, with focus on minimal disruption and broader community support.

Andrews school projects enrollment to reach 2729 before year end as the School Advisory Council discusses a 20 percent five year rise. Supt Reich notes first day enrollment up 22 percent from last year and urges community involvement in the new Let’s Teach program to be broadcast on KOS9 TV.
Womack Jones took over as water superintendent for the City of Andrews on Monday replacing R. S. Dillard Sr who resigned last month. Jones previously served ten years as water superintendent in Seagraves and plans to move near a lake north of Waco to build a commercial fishing camp.
The Andrews City Council invited representatives of three automatic parking meter firms to discuss installing meters in the business district at the November 5 meeting. They also invited two to three consulting engineers on water and sewage for the city expansion. An six-member electrical examining board was appointed and master electricians will renew licenses at expiration.
A record breaking turnout of over 150 men filled the high school auditorium for the Quarterback Club opening meeting. L A Tiny Warden chaired as Charles Dean led a committee for a two Negro teams football game while Dr Neil Hayes became program chairman.
Andrews Telephone Company invites the public to its two new buildings and dial system open house Saturday after a two year 500000 expansion. Owner Carl Betenbough says the changeover is complete with 2100 subscribers and nine miles of outside cable plus two miles inside the city. Coffee and punch will be served.
Kiwanis Club members outlined plans for International Kids Day at their Friday meeting. The program is a nationwide Kiwanis effort, with the big day set for September 22.
