Funeral Services Held For Nolley Andrews Pioneer

Samuel E. Nolley 72 Andrews county pioneer cattleman and former Eastland sheriff died Sunday at 10 a m while seated in his car in front of a renter s house. Services were at the Church of Christ Andrews at 4 p m with Rev. Sam Malone officiating. Singleton s Funeral Home in charge. Survived by widow two sons L H Jayton and S E Tyler four daughters Mrs Walter Stewart Gilmer Mrs C C Curtis Jr Tyler Mrs E M Moore Fort Worth and Mrs Clifford Miffleton Inglewood ten grandchildren two great grandchildren two half brothers and one sister. Interment in Andrews cemetery.

Mishap Leaves Mrs. Helen Ford with Injured Fingers

Mrs. Helen Ford suffered two badly mashed fingers on her left hand when a car door slammed on her hand Sunday. The incident occurred as she exited the vehicle, causing painful injuries.

Enrollment records set as 1200 sign up in Andrews schools

Enrollment in the 1951-52 term surged as 1198 students signed in by yesterday morning, with officials predicting over 1200 total. The Brownfield schools reported the same 1200 figure, while the high school added 32 students to reach 266 in the four grades.

Tommy Hood Named Acting Manager for Texas Electric Service in Andrews

R L Miller announces T M Hood Jr will assume duties as acting manager of Texas Electric Service Company in Andrews replacing Grady Kidd who is ill. Hood comes with 16 years in the company and previously served in Fort Worth Grand Prairie and now relocation with wife and three children. A separate note lists enrollment by grade with first grade 151 pupils and tenth grade 85.

Andrews 25 Cent Fire Department Credit Praised State Official

State fire officials lauded the Andrews Volunteer Fire Department for its outstanding record since 1946. Olen Culberson credited the department with raising fire insurance credits from minus 15 percent to plus 25 percent, lowering residents’ premiums by 25 cents per dollar.

Magnolia completes Peay wildcat with 375 barrel 24 hour flow

Magnolia Petroleum Co reports No. 1 Tom Peay well in Central-North Andrews County as a flowing discovery from Wolfcamp. The well produced 375 barrels of 39.2 degree oil with no water in a 24 hour test from 9,227-50 to 9,275-9,300 feet after 500 gallons mud acid wash.
