Charter Lions To Be Honored On Tuesday

Three charter members of the Downtown Lions Club will be honored at their 25th anniversary meeting at noon in the Community Building. Honorees are Guy McGill M O Woolam and Bill Blair. Jerry E Miller district governor of El Paso will be the speaker and also visit the Evening Lions in Andrews. Bob Rutherford and Brownie Dickens urge both clubs to attend as the district governor will preside.

Goodfellows Sponsor Kiddie Show For Food Drive

Goodfellows announce a Saturday 10 a.m. Kiddie Show at the Rose Theatre with canned goods admission. Woody Nelson of the theatre and Joe Zant of the Goodfellows organize the event, aided by local groups and students. Donations come from shoppers, stores, and a Toys for Tots drive, with volunteer helpers from Future Nurses of America and Rainbow for Girls.

Child Escapes Injury In Saturday Car Collision

Donald Joe Barker six of McGorkle visiting uncle near Permian General Hospital was struck by a car when his tricycle darted into NW 6 152 feet from NW 6th. The driver Paige Ramsey of 607 NW 4th, received no citations as the accident was deemed unavoidable. Investigator Weldon Monroe led the inquiry. Thanksgiving occurred at 4 20 p.m. The same day a two car collision at 4 39 p.m. involved Jack Overton Cline and Thomas C. Scott Jr with Scott cited for failure to yield. Mrs Scott later sought hospital care for possible injuries. A three car wreck at 4 05 p.m. Wednesday near NW K and N Main saw Leona Lee ticketed for failure to control after her station wagon hit Iva Watts Patterson, who then hit Barton Guyton. Officer Manning investigated.

Irene Cox Named Memorial Gifts Chairman in Andrews

Mrs. Irene Roberts Cox of 1000 NW 5th Andrews was named memorial gifts chairman of Andrews County Heart Association announced by Saul B. Appel MD president of the Texas Heart Association. She noted gifts honor relatives who died of heart disease and support research education and community service. The memorial chair sends acknowledgement cards naming both honoree and donor.

Chamber Board Votes Now Due

Yuletide Lights Set For Turn Or

Santa Claus will arrive Monday at 5 p m on November 28 in Andrews West Texas for a courthouse square celebration. The Junior High band will lead the welcome with children and families watching as lights across two highways and a giant courthouse square tree are turned on. Public buildings including Permian General Hospital City Hall schools and churches will display Christmas lights.

Clear Fork Production Opens in Andrews County Oil Field

Clear Fork Production opened lower Clear Fork in the Nelson field of Andrews County via recompletion of No. 7 H. O. Sims by Humble Oil and Refining Co. It yielded 20 bpd of 34 percent gravity crude with 13 percent water from 6484 to 6830 feet after 8000 gallons of acidizing, gas oil ratio 4800 to 1. Site lies 1980 feet from north and 660 feet from east lines of section 25, PSL. Nearby wildcat No. 1 Bedford by Signal Oil and Gas Co. was abandoned at 1950 feet.

Cage Home Show Slated Tuesday

The Mustangs open the home basketball season Tuesday night hosting Snyder at 8 p.m. The Junior Varsity plays Snyder at 6 15 p.m. before the opener. Coach Neil Laminack leads the cagers toward Big Spring Monday for their third game, after a previous loss to a AAAA school in Odessa.

Season Tickets On Sale for Basketball Season

Season tickets go on sale today and tomorrow at the school office for six dollars. Downstairs seats cover all home games and the basketball tournament. Individual reserved seats cost one dollar per game and upstairs general admission is fifty cents. Opening game Tuesday night has no single game tickets.
