The 1130 IBM computer at Andrews High School accelerates reading to 6000 words per minute and writing to 2400 words per minute while arithmetic runs at 125000 words per minute. Teachers use it to prepare tests grade averages and letters. Coaches rely on it to produce statistics for scouting reports. The machine, about desk size, arrived in July 1971 and marks its second school year.
Nine families won contest turkeys from local merchants in the annual Andrews County News Turkey Contest. Winners include L. C.
