Andrews hosts a Friday night playoff at 8 p.m. between Alpine Bucks, District 6 AA champions, and Stamford Bulldogs, 5 AA champs. County Accepts Library Annex in Andrews County

Andrews county commissioners voted to accept the county library annex and museum after construction. They authorized payment of the remaining contract balance to Hunter Construction Company with 10 percent withheld. The court authorized two attendees to conferences in Austin and Fort Worth on November 29. All commissioners and the county judge were present.

Two Area Wrecks Injure One

Sunday and Tuesday wrecks in the area left one injury. Wayne Creel a 19 year old from Odess a was hurt when his pickup left the Lamesa highway veering onto the shoulder then across the road and rolling after a short skid. He was hospitalized with injuries to the right hip arm and shoulder. In a Sunday incident at North Main and NE Ave A Donna Green Fowler collided with Oleta Walker Warren. no injuries were reported and Fowler received a citation for failure to yield right of way.

Mustang Club Elects Cooper President at Monday Meeting

Warren Cooper was elected president of the Mustang Club at the Monday night meeting. J. T. Jones became vice president and Bubba Hoermann took secretary-treasurer duties. James Craddock, the current president, announced Gene Stallings will speak at the all sports banquet next March.

Andrews High School Council Plans Spring Forum

Andrews student council officers met in Midland with the West Texas regional executive committee to map the February forum. Attendees included President Steve Brannan Vice President Larry Hutson Secretary Rosanne Waldron and supporters Brodie Hutchinson Forrest Scott and Miss Billie Harding.

Charges Dropped in Dawson County Forgery Case

District court in Lamesa dismissed charges against Hoot Gibson Robinson, a former Andrews resident, after his lawyer Dan Sullivan of Andrews filed a motion. Robinson had faced forgery counts for altering a check payable to Andrews Hospital and cashing it in Dawson County last November.

Open House Showcases Andrews School Bond Projects

An open house Sunday highlighted two bond funded projects in Andrews, De vonian and the Junior High dressing rooms, drawing a large crowd. Band Wins First In New Mexico

The high school band won a first division in the Eastern New Mexico band marching contest held in Carlsbad on Saturday for the second straight year. The junior high band placed second division. Four high school twirlers competed with Janis Payne earning first division and Rosanne Waldron Ginger Raburn and Cheryl Pearcy taking second division. The high school band will compete in the Texas regional in Big Spring on Saturday. the Andrews band will march about 3 p.m.
