Elliott's Rites Slated Monday for Jess Claude Elliott
Final rites set for 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church Andrews for Jess Claude Elliott 63 who died Saturday at Permian General Hospital after a long illness. Interment in Andrews Cemetery. services by Reverend Carl Grissom. Elliott was a longtime Union Oil pumper, resident of Andrews since 18 years, born Electra March 7 1901. Survived by wife Bernice and 12 relatives including three sons, two daughters, one sister, three brothers, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Truck Driver Escapes Injury on Kermit Highway
L D Robertson of 906 NW St Pl was driving a butane semi on the Kermit highway 17 miles west of Andrews when the vehicle rolled into a bar ditch and rested on its side. The truck belonged to Permian Brine Sales of Andrews. No citations were issued by highway patrolman Kenneth Turner.

Andrews City Votes To File Delinquent Tax Suits And Meat Ordinance
The Andrews City Council unanimously approved filing suits to collect delinquent personal taxes and to hire an attorney to prosecute. They also made annual delinquent-account filings and passed the third reading of the meat ordinance after removing a health certificate requirement. An exception to fire zone ordinance 337 was granted to W D Day for a 12 foot addition to Dairy Mart. The council authorized advertising for a new street sweeper and Pitney-Bowes won the bid for a seven unit postage meter at 2895 dollars.
