Monday night school open house in all Andrews public schools from 7 30 pm invites parents to visit elementary units junior high and high school. The high school field house and vocational buildings will be open with principals and superintendents urging attendance and tours of facilities.
Scotty Scott Jr. was seriously burned when an armed personnel carrier hit a land mine in Vietnam on November 7. He suffered first and second degree burns to the face, arms, and legs during a combat operation and had prior injuries earlier in his tour.
Union Texas Petroleum of Midland completed a Wolfcamp pay opener in the Martin West field of Andrews County. The No 12 University well, 14 miles southwest of Andrews, tested 118 barrels per day of 34 gravity oil with 18 barrels of water and a gas oil ratio of 1195. Produc tion used a 16 64 inch choke and 7 902 to 909 feet perforations after acidizing. Wells deeper tests and tests in Goldsmith North and other fields are noted with elevations and casing details.
Postmaster Bob Luck says the Post Office will close on Monday November to honor Veterans Day. All federal offices nationwide suspend operations on the holiday, which began as Armistice Day for World War I and now honors veterans of all wars.
Tom Ryan exploded for 245 yards on 28 carries with three touchdowns as Andrews Mustangs battled Seminole Indians to a 21 22 loss. Cotrell led Seminole with 128 yards on 21 carries while key botches and field pressure dictated the finish.

Justin Wilson Cajun humorist is scheduled as featured speaker for the Andrews County Chamber of Commerce banquet in early January at the high school home area. The event on January 9 includes the outstanding citizen award and new chamber officers, with tickets on sale via the chamber office.
Monroe, a City Police patrolman, has served four years with the department and lived in Andrews about 15 years. He moved from Coleman in 1953 to work in oilfields and later chose law enforcement to help local youth. He and his wife Geraldine Martin reside at 310 SW with two children Floyd and Nelda.
