Three men L R Callum Jr Troy Lisco Roberts and Byram E Marsh are jailed in Post Texas after Kansas authorities traced burglaries across four states to them. A warehouse in Post held a vast loot including boots clothing cameras jewelry weapons and trailers. The case ties to Pete Derrington's death in Andrews Texas and involves findings of numerous stolen items across Kansas Oklahoma Texas and New Mexico. Deputy sheriffs described a windowless warehouse full of merchandise and noted daytime absences but nighttime activity.
The Salvation Army fund drive is underway following a Tuesday kickoff breakfast at Main 66 attended by about 62 volunteers. Lois Miller chairs the drive and announced workers and solicitation cards. James Mosley led one group with John Curry and several named members. another group was under Bob Montgomery including Vernon Payne and others. James Craddock’s team listed Joe Weatherby and more.
The Andrews Independent School District ordered damage suits filed against the architect contractor and bonding company over alleged failures in the new high school. The board authorized its attorney Bob Barber to pursue action and withheld final payments until construction requirements are met. They approved postcontract additions to the Devonian building after a report by Jack Lemmon and remodeled Junior High shower rooms with three exceptions. One floor section will be worked on during Christmas holidays. A boiler condition report was presented.
