Vinzant Wins PGA Tourney in West Texas

Everett Vinzant of Lubbock captured the West Texas PGA four day event with a 275 total, two strokes ahead of Earl Jacobson of Kenedy and Amari Tos Ewin Stobaugh in third at 279. A Smith was fifth at 286. In the amateur division, Dewey Burkhart of Midland led with 210, while Nolen of Seminole posted 224 and Merritt of Andrews topped the second and third flights.

Religious Census Underway Today

Preparation starts this afternoon for a two Sunday city wide census sponsored by the Andrews Ministerial Alliance. Census takers meet at Means Memorial Methodist Church at 2 30 pm for orientation before visits led by Kenneth Sutton. Each household will receive survey cards to record all members and return by mail or door.

Andrews City Officer Receives TM League Honor in Houston

Mrs. Marcella Cure director of finance in Andrews won recognition for outstanding financial administration at the Texas Municipal League annual convention in Houston. Awards were also given to Kermit city manager Howard Willingham and to Canadian Uvalde and Dallas for municipal reports. The conference drew about 2,500 officials.

Local Schools Observe American Education Week

Andrews schools will observe American Education Week from Monday through Friday with open houses and visitor access. Senior High hosts Monday 7 to 9 pm and Thursday 7 to 9 pm. Tuesday visits are for all elementary schools 7 to 9 pm. Theme: Education Strengthens the Nation.

Pan American Petroleum completes No. 2 AV David Falken, 1845 miles south of Andrews in Ector County, as fourth Devonian gas distillate producer with 2,850,000 cubic feet per day potential and a gas liquid ratio of 3,683 to 1. The zone, treated with acid and fractured, lies at 11 330 to 456 feet. Location specifics given, casing to be run. Parallel test at Midland Farms yields oil and gas cut mud, top at 12,660 feet, pay point, with earlier oil show at 12,510 feet.
