Tuesday vote day across the nation marks General Elections with simple ballots. In the local scene only one office is contested county commissioner of precinct one. Joe Allbright runs a write in against Lonnie Gross who defeated Allbright in the Democratic primary with 388 to 378 votes.

School Bond Talk At Joint Meeting On November Election

Dr Norman Hall outlined a 2 million dollar school bond proposal at a joint session of the Lions Club Rotary Club Commerce Industrial Foundation and County Commissioners. The meeting featured a transparency presentation and emphasis on addressing a knowledge explosion in education. Voters will also face 14 Texas Constitution amendments with absentee voting figures reported. Voting runs 7 a m to 7 p m at the Court House and Faith Lutheran Church for listed precincts.

Door to Door Ends UF Drive in Andrews

Climaxing the United Fund drive a house to house campaign will be conducted Monday evening in Andrews. Four local groups split the city with the Interact Club led by Max Lucado covering southwest. Beta Sigma Phi Upsilon Chapter led by Mrs Brad Call covers northeast. Delta Beta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha led by Mrs Byford Sealy covers northwest. Andrews Jaycees chaired by Ron Harter cover southeast. Publicity chair John Hogue reports $18,400 of the $21,270 goal reached and urges residents to welcome callers and contribute.
