County Treasurer Back On The Job After Illness
Miss Fannie Mathews Andrews County Treasurer returns to her desk November 1 after an eight month illness. She fell ill February 1949 and despite dire forecasts she recovered enough to resume duties at the courthouse. She credits prayers for her recovery and calls the day the happiest of her life.

County collections reached 661 849.52 and school totals 420 525.41 for October. Andrews 1949 tax percentages lagged 1948 as University payments were half in October 1949. County totals for 1949 stood at 740 942.04 versus 584 891.51 in 1948. Schools posted 96 percent of October totals, up from 95 percent.
