Texans Vote On Sixteen Constitutional Amendments
The Texas electorate faces sixteen proposed patches to the constitution with ballots reflecting many changes. We support amendments 2 3 4 7 and 8 and oppose 1 5 and 6 while finding others less compelling. We favor a regional Dallas Fort Worth airport and allowing University of Texas Board governance for Arlington State College financing.

Wild Goose Chase set for performances tonight and Saturday
The Thespians present a three act play Wild Goose Chase at the High School Little Theater with an 8 p.m. show tonight and again Saturday. Admission is 1 for adults and 0.50 for children. Audie Ora Yarbrough 75 died at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Medical Arts Hospital in Lamesa after living with her husband in a Lamesa nursing home 18 months. Funeral at Primitive Baptist Church with M. C. Jeffries officiating followed by interment at Andrews Cemetery. Survivors include her husband C. D. Yarbrough seven sons Archie Mineral Wells Elmer Big Spring Ernest Lewisville Olen Andrews Arthur Andrews Joe Lubbock Omer Lamesa three daughters Delma Webb Rule Allene Smith Carlsbad Guendell Claxton Lubbock one sister Odie Yarbrough Haskell and one brother John Green Georgetown.

Proposed School Bond Totals 411000
The school board tentatively approved a 411000 bond issue after long discussion. The largest item is 158000 for high school repairs including roof and beam work. Other repairs cover Glorieta Underwood San Andres junior highs and the stadium parking areas plus band seating and vocational equipment.

Mrs Helen Ellis Dies After Illness at 58
Mrs. Helen Beatrice Ellis 58 of Blair Acres died Monday afternoon in Permian General Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Grissom officiating. Interment followed in Andrews Cemetery. Survivors include son J. M. Ellis of Andrews and son M. E. Ellis of Midland, daughter Mrs. Maxine Hinsley of Coahoma, brother George Jeffries of Dallas, sisters Mrs. Bonnie Grimm and Mrs. Doris Malone of Dallas, with pallbearers named.

Andrews ISD boards approves $411000 bond for school renovations
The Board of Trustees votes to fund renovations and additions to the Andrews Independent School District with a 411000 bond. Major work includes 158000 for beam and roof repair at the Senior High School. A lawsuit against the architect and contractor is planned to recover prior repair costs while repairs continue to protect the district’s $3 million asset.

Halloween Carnival Fun Across Andrews Town
Debbie Hutcheson was crowned Halloween Queen at Andrews High School carnival. Junior and junior high events featured balloons, popcorn and music as hundreds enjoyed the holiday. Children trick or treated peacefully while a few egg-throwers caused minor damage and a car was hit with a sledge hammer by local youths. Weather cleared the norther after the main events.
