Andrews County News (Newspaper) - May 21, 1972, Andrews, Texas Kay Grissom becomes mrs. Danny Williams marriage vows were repeated at 3 . Saturday May 20, 1972, by miss Maryln Kay Grissom and Danny Lee Williams in the Sanctuary of first Baptist Church. Parents of the Bride Are Rev. And mrs. Carl j. Grissom 17 year residents of Andrews and or. And mrs. L. R. Williams 1026 e. 48th place Tulsa ukla., and two year residents of Andrews until moving to Oklahoma. They had resided in Hobbs . Many years before living in Andrews. Branched candelabra holding votive lights formed the altar background and an arrangement of Gladioli adorned the altar table flanked by candles in brass Candle holders. Spiral candelabra topped the altar stairs and triple Hurricane lights marked the aisles. Johnny Young Baptist minister and a recent graduate from Howard Payne University led the service until the father of the Bride gave her away then Rev. Grissom performed the double ring ceremony. Grissom has served As pastor of the Church for Over 17 years. I he Bride wore a personally created wedding gown of White Chiffon Over White crepe styled with a neckline in front and Back. A narrow lace covered band gathered the sheer Over skirt at High Waistline and Matching material formed the stand up Collar attached at the front shoulder seams. Wide cuffs of lace covered crepe caught the full length sleeves in deep gathers with closings of White Satin butt ens. I he double full length skirts swept from the Side seams into Cathedral trains with wide bands of lace edging the full Circle hem below appliques of lace medallions. Matching lace also bordered the train length Mantilla of White tulle which featured sprinkles of appliqued lace Flowers. I he Bride carried a Cascade of White Gardenias roses and Stepha Notis. Her traditional accessories included the a a old lace covered Bible carried by her Mother in her wedding a string of pearls a a borrowed from mrs. James Sanders of Midland and formerly of Andrews the a a new gown a a a blues Garter fashioned and presented by mrs. Lee i a Ber and a sixpence Given by mrs. Gil Cockre Ham of Altus okla., and formerly of Andrews. Miss Barbara Williams of Richardson attended her Cousin As maid of Honor. Bridesmaids included miss Cathy mox Ley student at Texas tech mrs. Mike Edge of Canyon formerly of Andrews and miss Catherine Cook mrs. Danny Lee Williams married May 20 a classmate at Baylor University of Waco. The attendants wore identical gowns in chocolate Brown crepe styled Empire with Chiffon sleeves gathered into wide cuffs. White buttons closed the Brown cuffs and a White Bow accented the Waistline to show the Bride s colors of Brown and White. They each carried Gardenias in colonial velveteen holders. Johnny Young also served As Best Man. Ushers were Mark min Chew of Waco Danny Gallagher classmate at Sui Ross University at Alpine and Bud Beer Naraine of Guiana South american who was also a College classmate at Alpine. David Quinn was at the Organ to provide traditional wedding music and to accompany soloists. Miss Becky Kellum Sang a love is of god and miss sue Smith presented the selection a the Way that he after the ceremony the parents of the Bride and the wedding party greeted guests at a reception in the Fellowship Hall of the Church. Mrs. John Parrish assisted by mrs. M. M. Fisher jr., headed the House party. White Chantilly lace Over White Satin covered the brides table. Brown and White Satin ribbons tied with White Satin Bells and lilies of the Valley snagged around the Satin skirt. An arrangement of White carnations and stardust mums with candles formed the table Centrepiece. The wedding cake featured four All White tiers adorned in tiny White roses and clusters of Rosebud blossoms from snowy at Texas tech and Friend of the Bride was at the bridegrooms table service. Mrs. Wendell Harper of Houston and formerly of Andrews registered guests at a table covered in a crocheted cloth Given to the brides Mother for her wedding from a longtime family Friend the late mrs. Sam James of Butler okla. Miss Leah Parrish attired in a formal gown of Ecru lace and Chiffon distributed Rice bags in Brown net and tied in Brown from a decorated summer Basket. The Mother of the Bride wore a dressmaker ensemble in White and Brown Cotton with Brown brocaded design on the White Blouse and White brocade featured on Brown of the skirt and sleeveless jacket. She wore White accessories. The Mother of the bridegroom was attired in a Green and yellow dressmaker costume complimented with yellow accessories. Corsages of Gardenias were presented to mothers of the couple and to her maternal grandmother mrs. L. B. Wilbanks of Oklahoma City okla., and to his maternal grandmother mrs. J. B. Mann of Healdton okla., and his paternal grandmother mrs. M. P. Bateman of Guyman okla. Mrs. Parrish was also pinned with a Corsage. The Bride changed into a Blue and White costume for her wedding trip to the Davis mountains. The Bride is a 1968 graduate of Andrews High school and a 1971 graduate is irom Snow it a of Bay or University. She frosting. Basing the confection were four White cakes on revolving stands. Brown ribbons streamed from the cake top to further show the bridal colors. Serving at the brides table were miss Deborah Hutcheson recent graduate of Baylor University and miss Davis senior student at Howard Payne University in Brownwood both longtime friends of the Bride. Four wedding Bel shaped cakes were offered from the bridegroom s table which was covered in White pleated Linen under an Ecru Linen cloth embroidered in Gold and brought from Damascus by the brides father As a gift to her Mother. Appointed in Gold the table featured an arrangement of White carnations and stardust mums around an anniversary Candle.
