Mrs. Artie Maple Mathis, 62, died at 2 25 p m Monday at her Eunice highway home after a long illness. Funeral services were held at 3 p m Wednesday at Means Memorial United Methodist Church in Andrews with Rev. Norman Grigsby officiating. Born in Flippin Arkansas she later lived in Anson and Stanton before moving to Andrews 26 years ago. She was a member of Means Methodist Church. She married Marvin M Slim Mathis on November 6 1938 in Tucumcari New Mexico. He survives. Other survivors include son Everett P Dobbs, her parents D T Van Zandt and wife of Flip pin Ark Mrs. Van Zandt two sisters Mrs Juil Vandiver of Dalhart and Mrs Mary Costilla of Phoenix and one brother Olen Van Zandt of Tangent Oregon and four grandchildren.

Two Wrecks Reported in City Over Weekend
Two vehicle crashes occurred in the city with no injuries. A 8:45 p.m. Monday collision on W Broadway 33 feet east of NW 2nd involved a 1970 car driven by Steve E Carroll and a 1967 car driven by Howard Hunter. Damage exceeded 1100 dollars. Carroll was cited for following too close and DWI. A Sunday 1:40 p.m. crash at NW 13th and NWB involved a 1963 car driven by Ronald Ward and a 1965 pickup driven by Gary Don Mosley. Mosley was cited for failure to yield right of way.

Mrs. Lucille Farmer Dies at 63 in Andrews
Lucille Farmer 63, longtime Andrews resident since 1952, died Sunday at Permian General Hospital Andrews after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Monday at First Baptist Church with burial in Andrews Cemetery. She was born in Italy Texas and lived in Hobbs New Mexico before moving to Andrews. Survivors include her husband Steve and son Steve Jr among five sisters and a brother.
