Renner Hurt In Fall At Tank Battery
Walter Renner a 38 year old roustabout from 806 NW 13th was injured Thursday when he slipped from a catwalk at a tank battery west of the high school on Tract 34. He suffered head lacerations a fractured left wrist and possible cheekbone fracture. The accident occurred at 1 50 a.m. as he descended.

Andrews High School vocational classes shine at a state contest in Austin. Humberto Acosta takes first in building trades after a technical test against 3A and 4A schools and earns company stock. Five Andrewsans Hurt in Wreck Near Odessa
Five Andrewsans including four family members were injured in a two car collision on the Odessa highway thirteen miles north of Odessa. Vehicles were driven by Mrs Lena Tillis and Sidney Vaughn. Admitted to Medical Center Hospital were Mrs Tillis 37 and two children Doris 18 and Wayne 7. Betty 17 was treated and released. Elmer Tillis the father was uninjured. Marvin Lynn Rogers 26 of Andrews a passenger in the Vaughn car received head and back injuries. Vaughn remained in hospital. Local authorities report see Wreck Page 8.

Junior Band Tops Region Meet In Odessa
The Junior High School band under Gary Ivy won first division in concert at the regional music meet in Odessa on Saturday. The group also placed third division in sightreading, matching the high school band with a first in marching and concert and third in sightreading. Ivy directs both bands.

Resident Kin dies Tuesday in Harlingen hospital
Bill Harley brother of Mrs. Carl Ham and son of Mrs. W. O. Harley of Andrews died Tuesday night at Valley Baptist Hospital Harlingen from injuries in a car wreck near Santa Rosa. Funeral services were pending. Survivors include a wife son daughter and grandchild a grandmother Mrs. Leona Pipes of Hobbs three brothers Louis of Levelland Frank of North Dakota Bob of Corpus Christi one sister Mrs. Ham and the mother, an aunt Mrs. John O. Havens and cousin Dr. W. Havens.

Andrews Mustangs Win Fifth District Game in Ft Stockton
The Andrews Mustangs defeated Ft Stockton 9-4 to remain undefeated in district play. Brad Young and Daryl Helms belted back to back homers in the third, with Young adding another in the fifth. Steve Rose and Jerald Patrick had three hits each as Leonard Blanks earned the win with three innings of relief before Hilton finished.

Mustang Students Win Prizes at West Texas Craft Fair
Members of the industrial department at the high school won multiple prizes at the West Texas Student Craftsman's Fair in Odessa on April 26. Nolan Beck led metalworking with a machined metal lamp earning top honors and outstanding project note. Allen Hema earned first in level and division with a sheet metal box and second on the general metals test. Charles Gilbert took first in his level with an arbor press. Douglas Hays placed third with a small cannon in the model division.

Antique Car Show Slated At Lakeside Park
