Disaster Plan Trial In Andrews Set For June 28
A citywide disaster mobilization drill will be conducted in Andrews on Sunday June 28 by the Andrews security unit of the Texas State Guard. The exercise involves military vehicles for ambulance service traffic control and guard duty coordinated with the Andrews Citizens Band Club. The plan places the Andrews County Civil Defense authority above police and sheriff dispatch together with the state guard and band units. Pool Open and Lessons Set for City Pool This Summer

Library Starts Reading Unit At Andrews County
Andrews County Library opens its summer reading program with theme Moon Walk announced by librarian Mrs. Russell Austin. Students in 1st to 5th grade must read 12 books for a certificate and receive a space cadet badge on enrollment. After three books, a moon poster with 12 footsteps is awarded. All Night Sing Plans Underway In Andrews
The third annual All Night Sing will be held in Andrews on Saturday June 20 at Mustang Stadium with an indoor backup location in case of bad weather. Organizers expect about 8000 attendees and will feature Western and gospel acts including Blackwood Singers with Ron Blackwood, Little David Smith, Bob Wills and the Inspirations, and the Gloryland Quartet. Food stands run by the Andrews Boys Club and Beta Sigma Phi provide concessions. admission is 1.25 for adults, 50 cents for ages 10-18, and free for children under.

June 19 is the entry deadline for an patriotic essay contest sponsored by Andrews Savings and Loan. Prizes include a $10 savings account and bronze plaques to the presenting school, with six category awards at the July Fourth pageant. Bell Injured In 90 Foot Drilling Rig Fall
James Bell aged 48 from Lovington New Mexico was hospitalized at Per mian General Hospital after a 90 foot fall from a Marcum Drilling rig ten miles east of Andrews on the Lamesa highway He sustained injuries to his heels left arm back and right elbow in the accident
