Scarborough Funeral Set For Thursday
Funeral services for W. F. Scarborough 72 a noted cattleman of Winkler Andrews and Lea counties and Midland resident for forty years were held in Midland at the First Baptist Church. He died in a Kermit hospital after a gunshot wound Monday with his son Hollis Scarborough jailed on bond while family members rushed to Kermit from Lubbock Pecos and Midland to be with him. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery with relatives and friends among pallbearers and honorary pallbearers listed.

19 in Pre historic Skull Uncovered in Texas Quarry
A nine foot shovel jawed mastodon skull, the second found at the Bee County water hole, was uncovered by University of Texas and WPA field crews. Dr. E H Sellards of the Texas Memorial Museum says the skull may be among the largest found and ties to a rich geologic strike revealing fossil bones of a 20,000 year old mastodon. The discovery suggests ancient beasts bogged in the clay at the water hole.
