Wright Resigns as Deputy After Court Meeting
Pat Wright deputy sheriff turned in his badge to Sheriff Floyd Peacock after a Commissioners Court meeting. The panel, seeking economy in the 1951 budget, asked Peacock to reduce staff to one deputy. Wright resigned after criticism of his large expense account and handling of traffic at a fatal highway crash. Wright had served six years under Sheriff Peacock.

Andrews Buyers Attend Market in Dallas 1961 Fashion Preview
Two fashion buyers from Andrews, Lucille Huckabee and L. I. St. Clair, attended the American Fashion Association advance market in Dallas. About 5,000 dealers from 41 states and two foreign countries packed Dallas hotels for the event with a two hour main style show, 200-foot runways, a Hollywood breakfast, and 412 displays across hotel lobbies parlor and newsroom areas. Henry W. Stanley reported 1,050 new lines were presented.
