Little Rock Manager Named for Andrews County Chamber
Bill J. Thomas 25 of Little Rock Arkansas was chosen manager of the Andrews County Chamber of Commerce here yesterday and will take over February 1st. The selection followed a Tuesday interview and unanimous board approval after three weeks of committee review led by John Stubbs. Thomas is a Korean War veteran and former manager of the Little Rock chamber trade development department. He will replace Harry Cowan who moved to Denison Texas.

Four Odessans, a group traveling in a car, were arrested Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Sheriff’s Department and held on investigation of theft with charges of theft over $50 pending. Items recovered included two suits, three sweaters, and two girdles from H and S Men’s Wear C R Anthonys Carver Department Store and Dunnlaps. Arrested were James Conley and his wife Mary Elizabeth Conley Cora Bell Crosby and Anne Lee Christian.

Three Jailed in Hit-and-Run Accident Near Andrews
Three Andrews men were jailed in Andrews County after a Tuesday night hit-and-run. Ernest Shelley pled guilty to driving while intoxicated and drew 30 days in jail plus $200 fine and costs. Leon McGehee paid $25 fine with costs. Jessie Shelley paid $27.50 for drunkenness. Highway Patrolman Buff Angel said the trio’s 1952 vehicle struck Wayman Cook’s 1957 car on State Highway 176, 27.6 miles west of Andrews, then fled. Cook pursued and stopped them. Cook’s car sustained about $100 in damage.
