Resident Killed Monday in Andrews Tire Wreck
Cecil Lloyd Howell, 54, a Haliburton Cementing Co. mechanic, died after his car struck a milk truck near his home at noon Monday in Andrews. He was crushed between vehicles and died at Permian General Hospital. The truck driver was L C Gregg of 1121 Terrace Circle. Howell lived at 506 NW 12th and had resided in Andrews six years. He belonged to First Baptist Church and previously worked for Haliburton in Od essa. Born in Sperringberg, he was a longtime area resident. The wreck occurred as his westbound car crossed a yield sign on NW Ave D. The article notes authorities concluded death was instantaneous.

Andrewsons Hurt In Flash Fire At Odessa-Area Tank
Two Andrewsons sustained burns while cleaning a tank at a Union of Texas base west of Odessa on C J McCrory. One man received severe burns to hands face and legs and was transported to Permian General Hospital via Odessa Medical Center. The other suffered facial burns and was treated at the scene.

Registration Set for Voters in Andrews County
Andrews County voters must register by January 31 to vote this year. Tax Collector Floyd Peacock notes registration is at the courthouse and 714 residents have already registered. Eligible residents must have lived in Texas one year, in the county six months, and in the precinct 30 days. The new rules allow a family representative to pick up forms for all eligible members and a registered voter to sign for another in the immediate family. Forms can be mailed upon written request if the voter cannot attend. Voters over 60 may vote without registration if they live outside towns of over 10,000. city limits residents over 60 must register. Those turning 21 in 1967 must register by January 31. exemptions after deadline are no longer allowed.
