Convention Men Chosen at Rally
Officers were elected for the 1952 Democratic county convention at a rally in the district courtroom last Saturday. Montgomery as chairman, Roberts as vice chairman, Ramsey as secretary and Woolam as treasurer were selected. Precinct conventions will be May 3 and county conventions May 6 with delegates allocated by votes in the governor race. Election changes include a two box ballot with a perforated corner and a 60 day shut box, absentee ballot posting, and a May 5 filing deadline for ballot spots. Precinct chairs were urged to rally voters for the May 3 conventions.

Tale of Fatal Beating At Arkansas State Hospital
Ex patient John H. Lonon told Sheriff Floyd Peacock and News editor James Roberts of a ward beating at the Arkansas State Hospital in Little Rock. He said attendant struck Charles Buddy Ray, about 60, causing fatal injuries two days later, with about 30 patients present. An interne treated Ray, but no publication had reported the death.

A near capacity audience filled the high school auditorium for Andrews annual Spring concert. The 64 member Junior band directed by Miss Martha June Morehart presented two overtures two marches On Top of Old Smoky and a Three Bears sketch by James Ulmer. After intermission the 100 piece Senior band offered a lengthy program of marches overtures and novelty pieces, with proceeds above cost benefiting the Andrews County Red Cross.
