Both houses of the 45th legislature push through a committee agenda while Gov. Alfred, away in Washington for Farey dinner, pressures for tax‑funded appropriations. The house votes to repeal the race‑track gambling bill, sending it to a closely divided senate amid calls for a record vote.
Twenty two Scouts attended this week’s troop meeting with an open discussion on interests followed by a program on The Flag by Patrols 3 and 4. Several Tenderfoot progress notes, knot tying practice, and a six mile hike are planned for March 6 with a council surprise around March 11 and a Girl Scout Council meeting on March 8.
A chaotic public notice summons Andrew G Ehlinger and numerous heirs and representatives of listed individuals including S. Price N W Mahone Clara Chambers and Sidney Lansford. The long-scale document references Sunshine Petroleum and Girl Scouts with PTA praise from Lenna Bryant Miller.
A wedding shower honored Mrs. Virgil Lassiter nee Ruby McCarley at the Smith home with many guests including Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Goon and others. The event lists numerous attendees and notes social connections among local residents.
Funeral services for George Edwin Moxley were conducted Monday at the Andrews Methodist Church with Rev. G H Bryant and Rev. O C Curtis presiding. Born December 31 1852 in Caseda Georgia he moved to Alabama then Texas and settled in Andrews 21 years ago. He leaves a large family including his widow two daughters, twenty four children and a number of grandchildren.

The petition in District Court No 504 asks for dissolution of marriage between B Prior and Cecilia Mae Prior. The court orders Cecilia to be summoned by weekly publications for four weeks and to appear at the next term on March 29 1937.
