Local Church Plans New Auditorium Adjacent to Present Building
Dale Sexson announces that the Local Church of Christ will erect a new auditorium at NW 2 and Ave A across from the current building. The existing church will become an educational unit. the new 123 by 62 foot hall will feature exposed laminated trusses and acoustical tile. Architect Smith and Warder of Grand Prairie will complete blueprints by March, with construction to begin soon. Two Sunday services, including a 3:45 a m session and a 10:50 a m worship, continue to accommodate overflow.

Bids were opened in a special board meeting for the Andrews Junior High School construction. Mullens & Lacey of Midland were low bidders on general construction at 443000 dollars. Mack's Plumbing Co. of Midland won the heating and plumbing bid at 46950 dollars. Basin Electric Co. of Midland held the electrical contract with 15700 dollars. Total bids amounted to 505682 dollars.

Local Rider Billy Watts Named Jr World Champion
Billy Jo Watts 19, son of Mr and Mrs Austin Watts, was named Junior World Champion Bronc Rider at the Fort Worth Fat Stock Show. He earned 885 points in the American Junior Rodeo Association across 22 shows with 18 placements and received a sterling belt buckle. He and Marvin Overstreet were the only Texans with all around honors in 1953. Watts eyes possible pro status next year.

Busy Time As Red Cross Aids In 45 Cases Here
The local American Red Cross chapter processed over 45 aid applications in recent months. Mrs. B. F. Seay, executive secretary and case worker, reports ten families received $159.68 in aid while twelve emergency leave requests and eight home and welfare reports were handled for servicemen. The chapter spent $177 on telephone and telegraph bills since September. Five or more notes detail service members seeking reports due to home conditions or lack of contact, with ten emergency leaves granted for illness or deaths. Mrs. Seay has volunteered about three hours daily without pay.

Boy and Dog Reunited After Optimist Help
Bob White, 16, and his dog were reunited after Odessa and Wichita Falls Optimist clubs organized the effort. The boy, living in a river shanty with the dog near Wichita Falls, had left school and was found by juvenile authorities. He returned to his parents in Andrews with the dog accompanying him on the bus trip.

Andrews County reports Hunt Oil Company No 1 J M White wildcat 11 miles north of here found a heavy Ellenburger flow on a drillstem test. The five hour 40 minute test at 13 265 to 13 375 feet yielded 69 barrels per hour through a restrictive choke with a gas oil ratio around 500 to 1. The oil gravity measured 43.2 degrees.

The Andrews school faculty will host a Tri County Teachers Association meeting at the high school auditorium Tuesday at 7 30 p m. The association includes teachers from Andrews Gaines and Yoakum counties with about 300 teachers from Denver City Plains Loop Seagraves Seminole and Andrews expected. George Walker Seminole band director will preside. Afterward the group will go to the Primary school cafeteria for refreshments, and an open house will be held for visiting teachers.
