The Citizens Research group met Thursday night and formed a transportation committee to study free bus service for adults and students to Odessa College. Other topics included a year around Goodfellow charity, storage for donated goods, mail service education, and Andrews community needs such as health, recreation, auto safety, and water conservation.
In Central Andrews County wildcat area near Andrews, Champlin Os refining reports a Wolfcamp discovery at its No 1 L University site. Flow tests show oil and gas potential with fresh water and oil recovered, while plans advance for further tests and multiple new wildcat projects across the University Lands and surrounding blocks.
A district court docket is expected to bring criminal cases to trial with Judge G C Olsen presiding. Names on the jury list include Olfie C Schrank Mrs Chester Otter J W Pinnell L V Madison Stuart Dowlin and many others as orders for jurors are issued ahead of a potential ruling on the John Burke case.
Odessa College released its first semester honor list with three divisions Magna Cum Laude Cum Laude and Laude. Betty Rigsby and Bobby Sloueh earned Cum Laude honors for maintaining no grade below B while carrying 15 semester hours.
Red Cross Disaster Institute closes with appreciation from Lorette Webb. Local unit releases committee rosters with chairmen and members across Medical and nursing, Public information, Shelter, Survey, Communications, Transportation, Warning and rescue, Supply, and Clothing. Government agencies differ in disaster roles, with Red Cross providing mass care and individual emergency services. Page Six.
The Andrews county tax assessor reports a busy period ahead to March 31 with an expected 5 000 passenger cars to register and only 400 sets issued so far. Trucks and trailers have added fees with Halliburton Oi Well Supply stemming a $407.70 registration for a $45 000 pound truck, boosting revenue split between county and state beyond the initial $50 000.
