H B O Neal former school teacher and life insurance agent of Lubbock Texas has acquired an interest in the Wallace Theatre and will manage it. He plans to move his family to Andrews soon and brings energy and business skill to boost the theatre and city life.
A massive real estate sale planned by Imperial Auction Company led by C H McCall will auction 109 highway lots and 400 homesites starting Monday at 10 am under a heated tent in East Odessa. The Royalty Heights property on Highway 83 will include a 72 piece band and giveaways, with hopes all lots sold on day one despite a two day sale.
The W M S of the Baptist church met Tuesday to review a Home Mission program planned for the first week of March. Odessa W M U will direct with Mrs W L Bradley in charge. date to be announced next week.
Jack Davis son of Mr and Mrs Truman Davis was taken to a Monhans hospital Thursday after an attack of pneumonia.
Oscar R Hawkins recovers after two surgeries at Headlee Hospital Odessa. Andrews District plans a lighted baseball field at the camp after a diamond bid by the Employees Federation led by I A Wimberly. Local staff report flu and car purchases including Nash sedan and Buick Coupe. Rev J P Lancaster visits El Paso, Rev O C Curtis at Seminole appears in ambulance. A safety meeting for production department was chaired by SB Carlson with J B McMin Jousta bout and R L Peters presenting.
Mrs. Mae Etter is ill this week and Mrs. Robert McReynolds is on the sick list.
Mrs J H Dodd was carried to Odesa Hospital Thursday night suffering with an attack of pneumonia. Her condition was not learned to be serious.
A sequence of 1939 real estate transfers shows multiple grantors and grantees including Selma Catherine Dodd to Thomas V. Skaggs, Gladys O Brown to M A Thornberry, and J W McMillen to North Central Texas Oil Co. among others. The records reflect mineral rights reservations and fractional oil and gas interests across numerous sections and blocks, including Sec 9 Blk A-42 and Sec 14 Blk A-38, with dates ranging January to February 1939 and related state or county filings.
Bob Duren, prominent night club operator, remodeled the Moonlight Bar 12 miles north of Odessa into a deluxe venue. The facility features private dining rooms, a modern bar and dance floor, tables, and lights. A dinner club with steaks and Chinese foods will run alongside the bar and ballroom. An orchestra will perform nightly and the club will cater to genteel celebrations in the private Egyptian dining room.
Breeder buyers from nine states gathered at the John B. Stribling ranch near Rotan for 96 head of registered Herefords at the annual sale. Buyers paid a total of $54,385 under the hammer, with Col. Earl Gartin serving as auctioneer.
Mrs Richard Jackson and Mrs A F Johnson co hosted a shower for Mrs Gail Baxter the former Vivian Suggs. Valentine colors adorned decorations and favors. Several games were played and the bride received many gifts. Refreshments included cake coffee or coca.

Former White Way Grocery manager T. E. Parmer has moved to Christoval to join his wife there for her health. Carl Pearce of Odessa, Texas will manage the Parmer grocery in the town and plans to relocate his family to Angrewe soon.
The first district basketball tournament in Midland will be held in the new Midland high school gymnasium on Friday and Saturday. Ten West Texas counties enter, with champions from Court ney, Martin, Andrews, Upton, Odessa, Ector, Crane, Reagan, Garden City, Glasscock, Winkler, Seminole, Gaines, and Midland counties competing for the District 31 title.
Tommie Cobb, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Cobb, was taken to Headlee Hospital in Odessa for pneumonia treatment and is reported to be recovering rapidly from the illness.
In a fast paced local clash the Mustangs edged the Odessa High Bronchs 17 to 16. The win fuels a trip to Midland for the district tournament at Midland’s new $90,000 gymnasium set to host decisive district games.
H. B. O'Neal, manager, announced the Wallace Theatre will begin showing four screenings weekly, up from three. New better pictures have been booked, offering Andrews patrons the same quality and freshness as cinemas elsewhere.
A cold wave followed a severe norther and sandstorm in An drews on Thursday night driving temperatures to about 20 degrees. No major damage occurred though some pipes froze and residents suffered from dust and cold. It marks the second severe norther and sandstorm in recent weeks.
P. B. Grissom former superintendent of Andrews schools now at Barstow has accepted a Civil Service post with the Federal Agricultural Department. He will be stationed in Edinburg Texas in the Rio Grande valley and is reported to have resigned his Barstow superintendent job to report for duty at once.
The Go-Getters Class of the Methodist Church begins work on a tennis court and croquet grounds with lighting for night play, to be located just south of the church.
