Outbuilding Fire in Town Raises Alarm
Three minor fires this week included a Tuesday afternoon blaze in the 300 block of SW 19th that scorched a fence and grass. Tuesday night a back alley outbuilding behind a radio station was quickly controlled. A reported truck fire north of town could not be located by the fire department.
Andrews Board Names Fred Weir New Head Coach
The Andrews school board unanimously elected Fred Weir of Granbury as head football coach and athletic director. Weir, 32, will report March 6 and may bring two assistants. his prior record includes a state final appearance with Granbury and seven wins in nine seasons as a coach. A UT graduate, he and his wife Joyce have two daughters.

Construction has begun near Lake side Park to create Andrews Prairie Dog Town with a chain-link fence and cleared land. A chamber of commerce committee plans a master development including overnight camping facilities and moving the American Legion building to SW 7th and Ave E with city funding. The project aims to be operating by the upcoming tourist season and expanded by 1968 for Texas traffic en route to Heils Fair.

County Commissioners awarded bids for cars and a D-6 Caterpillar dozer and approved tempered glass sliding doors for the Andrews County Museum to deter West Texas dust.
