Fire damages Sparks home in in-house blaze
Roy Marvin, playing beneath a bed, struck a match that ignited bed clothing in the Sparks residence. Mrs. Mary Ira Cox and Roy were inside when the blaze started. Cox dragged the burning cloth outside and summoned workers from Sparks Welding Shop. The fire burned a wedding ring quilt before being extinguished by local workers. The fire department was not called.

Baptist Census Sunday Amid Revival Plans
One hundred twenty First Baptist Church members will census Sunday in Andrews to gear up for the Spring Revival starting April 9 led by Pastor Rev. E Brand. Roy Marvin Butch Sparks captured 4266 votes to win the Sub-Deb baby contest held at the Junior High gym. Runner up Donna Joe Davis earned 2791 votes as spectators cake walked for 25 cents per cake and 15 cents per pie. Prizes were awarded to Butch while corsages went to Mrs. Sparks and Mrs. Davis. About 255 dollars was raised, with half donated to the March of Dimes.

Women ask council for stop signs around school grounds
Representatives from the Andrews Study Club appeared before the City Council Tuesday night to request traffic controls around the school.
