The $5000 Andrews WPA project will begin once enough men sign up. The minimum eleven workers is not yet met, and interested men should contact the WPA representative at the City Secretary's office on Monday.
Bids will be opened February 21 for constructing 7 764 miles of caliche base and double asphalt paving on Highway F from Midland toward Garden City. Midland County has completed grading drainage and fencing of a 17 mile right of way segment, with next ten miles awaiting start. Right of way secured in Glasscock County, enabling rapid southeast extension of Highway 158 toward Kermit and to intersect Highway 51.
The Brotherhood of the Andrews Baptist Church traveled to Seminole Thursday night to present a program at the Seminole Baptist Church. Attending from Andrews and the Humble Camp were G. P. Beane M. O. Bridges Rufus Walker Dr. J. G. Little Henry Heath and W. A. Carsey and W. C. Robertson.
Rev. A W Fechner of Coleman Texas will preach at the Baptist Church Sunday at 11 o clock and possibly Sunday night, the pulpit committee announced Wednesday. Everyone is urged to come hear him.
T. E. Farmer, active in the grocery trade for two years, relocates to Christoval to join his wife who has lived there a year for health reasons. The business will be managed by his two sons Mack and Bill and Mr. Pearce.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Baptist Church for Norman C. Preacher McKenny 20, of Andrews. Rev. G. H. Bryant officiated with Rix Funeral Home Odessa in charge. Born January 4 1919 in Clayton Oklahoma he lived on a farm near Andrews with his parents T. M. and McKenney for 14 years. He attended Andrews High School as a junior before withdrawal. Survived by parents three brothers George Boswell Oklahoma Woodrow Warner and five sisters Mrs Bill Harris New Mexico Mrs Jewell Gibson Mrs Floyd Harris Mrs Snider and Mrs Bill Wilson all of Andrews. Pallbearers listed. Burial in Andrews Cemetery.

W. H. Guthrie will travel to Odessa Thursday for the removal of his left eye. The infection worsened last week, and his physician advised the operation to prevent further danger.
At the University of Texas 320 students in fifteen cooperative houses pay about 50 cents a day for room and board, saving an estimated 40,000 dollars yearly. Dorm residents pay 30 to 55 dollars monthly. cooperatives cost about 15 dollars monthly, sparking talk of wider expansion nationwide.
Reported shooting led to a murder charge as investigators described the scene with men digging holes high above ground for trees while sand storms delayed work. Old timers varied in their assessments, with many recalling earlier storms but none calling this the worst on record.
Thos D Hamilton former high school principal and coach for Andrews Public Schools was elected superintendent of the local schools last Saturday by the Board of Trustees He will succeed G P Beane the current superintendent Hamilton came to Andrews two years ago from Ropesville where he had been connected with the Ropesville school system Details of Beane plans were not learned.
C H McCall head of Imperial Auction Co says plans are set for a two day sale February 20 and 21 with public inspection February 19. The auction will be in a heated tent on highway east of town to weather delays and noon lunches by church groups will keep buyers on site. The story notes a separate high school basketball game where the Andrews boys lost to Odessa Brondhs 21 to 26.
Lois Snider daughter of Mr and Mrs Snider has been gravely ill this past week with a nervous breakdown. latest reports say she is somewhat improved and resting normally.
Dick Rubottom, assistant dean of men and housing head since 1936, explains a shared work plan for the cooperative house. He notes each resident has a job, food costs 77 percent of the budget, utilities 14 percent, wages and maintenance 15 percent, equipment 3 percent, and laundry 2 percent. He spends about an hour daily performing a house task.
District Attorney William Kerr filed murder charges against Sheriff Dick Dillard of Andrews after the fatal Sunday night shooting of Norman Preacher McKenney near Thompson Service Station. Dillard waived an examining trial and a $5,000 bond was signed by Andrews and nearby ranchers. The report recounts a Friday pool hall incident and a Saturday–Sunday sequence leading to the deadly clash, with tensions lingering in Andrews.
