Regional Meet Held Saturday at local high school
Andrews Mu Alpha Theta hosted a Texas regional conference and mathematics tournament at the local high school on Saturday. About 15 area schools attended with contests in slide rule, mathematics, number sense and student congress. First second and third place awards were given in each contest including novice and veterans divisions. a sweepstakes trophy was to be awarded with favorites to receive it. Kenneth Williamson and Don Boles organized arrangements. event ran from 7 30 a m to 3 p m with a guest speaker after the morning session and after lunch in the cafeteria.

Graveside rites were held at 10 a.m. Friday in Andrews Babyland Cemetery for the infant son of Dr. and Mrs. Allan R. Faulk who died at 7 10 p.m. Thursday in Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. The child was seven hours old. Survivors include two brothers Allan Jr. and Craig, both of the home. Paternal grandmother Mrs. Nevie Faulk of Aransas Pass and maternal grandmother Mrs. Bettie Hardy of Bryan.

Mrs Shore Dies in Dallas at 72
Mrs Marvel Lou Shore 72 died at Bristol General Hospital in Dallas where she had been a patient since January 26. Funeral services were at Downtown Church of Christ with H J Matthey officiating. Burial at Coleman, graveside service Saturday at 2 p.m. Singleton Funeral Home in charge. Born Moran October 3, 1895 she lived here 11 years. Inspection Sticker Period Underway in Texas
The Texas Department of Public Safety reports over 4.25 million vehicles still must be inspected for the 1968 sticker before the April 15 deadline. DPS Director Col Homer Garrison Jr. notes only about 1.57 million had been checked so far, with 5.7 million inspected in 1967. Voter registration in Andrews County reached an all time high of 4929, surpassing the 4750 mark set in 1964, a presidential year. The tax assessor collector’s office took its last registration at five minutes before midnight on Wednesday and began issuing car tags Thursday morning. Car tags go on sale February 1 to April 1, with an early rush on opening day.

Fire damages two stores near Andrews and Phillips
Smoke damage followed a fire in a light fixture at Phillips Little Town clothing store on Wednesday as owners prepared to lock up. Early Thursday morning a heater on the J E Parker lease west of Andrews on the Kermit highway caused a small blaze quickly extinguished by Andrews firefighters.
