Explosion Burns Husband and Wife in Trailer Mishap
Paul West suffered severe burns when a trailer exploded at 10 Sunday morning. Mrs West and her husband Ralph Lowe company employee were inside the trailer near Block 12 water Station 0 miles west of Andrews when the blast gutted the structure. Nearby workers aided by volunteers battled the flames before help arrived. West received burns to his arm and was treated at General Hospital.

Maltsberger Named Manager in San Angelo Funeral Home

Last Minute Rush Boosts Tax Receipts to 1282
A late day surge to the tax collector's office Monday January 31 led to 1282 poll tax receipts issued. January sales totaled 1056 receipts with nine exemptions, compared to 1850 receipts for all of last year.
Two Injured In Car Smash At Main Street
At 8 am Tuesday a collision at 400 South Main near the Pheasant Grill injured Robert Van de Vender of Terminal Texas and Randall Marquiz of Odessa. They rode with Robert Benjamin Harris of Odessa in a pickup that hit a car driven by Don Gail Fitzgerald who was charged with an illegal left turn. The injured received emergency care at Permian General Hospital and were sent to an Odessa hospital. Police estimate $600 damage to Fitzgeralds car and $400 to the pickup.

Gas surfaced in 16 minutes and oil in 18 minutes. Flowing pressure ranged 4745 to 5290 pounds, shut in pressure 5470 pounds after 15 minutes. Gas oil ratio 156 to 1. gravity 43.6 degrees.

Thomas Olen Tyner age 42 tool pusher in Pure Oil Company production department died of a heart attack yesterday at 3 15 pm while on duty. He was born July 31 1912 in Clelland county West Texas and is survived by his wife Lorene daughter Paula his mother Mrs Alice Tyner Corsicana a sister Mrs Leon Tramer Corsicana and three brothers Fred Roswell Rufus Concord Calif and Gene Corsicana. First Pastor of Presbyterian Church To Be Installed Here Sunday
Frank Crown will be installed as the first pastor of the Andrews Presbyterian Church by a Presbytery of El Paso commission. Out of town members include pastors Joe M Brown Ell ex Coon Lewis Waterstreet and Herman Dirks plus Lee Milling. The 6:00 pm tour of the new site precedes a 7:30 pm installation in the Junior High School Music Room. The block next to the city park beside the Boy Scout Hut was donated for the church. A January membership goal was reached with a 20 percent gain and new members will join during the service.

Miss Shelbie Martin was crowned band sweetheart at the Andrews High School and Junior High School Bands winter concert. About 189 musicians performed as the senior band directed by Everett Maxwell and the junior band under Martha June Morehad presented a varied program. Admission was 50 cents and 25 cents with proceeds aiding a dance scheduled in the spray.
