Rainy weather sparked multiple crashes in Andrews. Audie Lay wrecked a Plymouth after dodging a mule, injuring several occupants including Forrest Lonis with a broken arm and Audie Lay with a broken collarbone. Minor injuries to Wayne Lonis and Mike Pice followed. Ila Fiyee Carley’s Ford overturned after hitting loose sand. Moselle Ott and Ira Faye McCarley sustained cuts and shock, treated at Dr. Little’s, Mozelle later hospitalized in Odessa. John Demitt escaped uninjured. A second crash near mile 519 south of town involved a Chevrolet left on the highway with unknown injuries.

The Humble Oil and Refining Company staked a new site in north Fuhrman area and began building a derrick 330 feet from the west line and 3630 feet from the south line of section 6, Block A-43. J. S.
