A near tragedy occurred when three Bertsch children were exposed to gas fumes from a furnace and blocked vent in a new home. Father revived a child, air was shared with the others, and all were treated at a hospital. The cause was a roof air conditioner near the vent and wind shifting direction.

Andrews schools will dismiss Friday as teachers attend a Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center workshop in Odessa. Dr. Lambeth and Adams will address reading problems at a 9 a.m. assembly, while Dr. Milo Blecha and Dr. Geneva Hanna Pilgrim will support curriculum planning and teacher meetings through Friday.
Northern Natural records show a six week period with a low of 9 degrees and a high of 36 as dust, sandstorms and sun alternate under sharp winds and cool conditions.

City permits for January rose to $63,700, including two new homes by W. E. Flanary a $22,000 house at 1214 NW 72nd and a $40,000 house at 1204 NW Vth also listing a $1,000 addition and two moveouts totaling $705 in value.
Residents on SIL NW 9th reported a large water leak Monday afternoon and summoned the fire department. Fire crews arrived with more water and then decided to return and contact the water department for service.

George Jordan WTCC tourist department manager will outline Sparkle aims to boost West Texas tourism through community projects sponsored by local chambers. The program runs March 1966 through December 1967 with awards in 1968 as HemisFair and Olympic events heighten Texas visitor traffic.
Hamilton seeks Andrews County Clerk as he enters politics. Leland Hamilton, Andrews television businessman, and his wife Mona live at 700 NW 11th with four children. He served in World War II and ran Leland's TV since 1956. He is active in local clubs and church circles.
R B Jordan a city councilman and longtime Andrews resident announces his candidacy for county clerk. A former Humble Pipe Line gauger who retired after 19 years, Jordan now runs a contract pumping service and has moved about four years to independent oil dealings handling millions of barrels with strict accuracy. The Mustang cagers beat Fort Stockton 67 to 44 Tuesday night as Pat Winfield led with 15 points and Dewain Matthewson opened with a first quarter free throw. The win keeps Don’t see Page 3.
The March of Dimes had totaled about 1500 in contributions here by Tuesday with more expected from the Mother's March and business drive. The Mother's March on Monday night raised 1169 with several blocks still to be worked as Mrs. Huckabee thanked volunteers for the successful drive.
