Commercial State Names New Weep
Maurice Crouse arrived in Andrews this week as the new vice president at Commercial State Bank and was introduced at their annual Stockholders barbecue Tuesday night. Crouse assumed duties Friday morning, replacing Harold Cox who went to Monahans as president of a bank there. He was vice president at First State Bank there for 5 1/2 years.

MOD Nets 500 In Door-To-Door March of Dimes Drive
Total of 500 dollars was raised during last Mon days March of Dimes in Andrews. Mrs Jimmie Huckabee county chairman announced the total and thanked Andrewsans for their cooperation. List of walkers includes Mrs Norman Holman Mrs Bonnie Beard and others. Gerald McCaskill president of Commercial State welcomed Crouse to Andrews and praised him as an asset to the bank and community. Directors and officers were reelected at the stockholders meeting with Johnny F. Smith as chair.

Nolan Howard Callahan 59 died Wednesday at Permian General Hospital after a long illness. He lived in Andrews 26 years and retired from Humble Oil in 1963 after 29 years. Graveside rites were held in Austin with funeral arrangements by Singleton. Survivors include his wife Virginia, a son Douglas, four sisters, two brothers, and three grandchildren.

Mustangs Defeat Monahans In District Action
Andrews High School edged Monahans 62 to 52 as Randy Laminack scored 20 points and led Andrews into fourth place at the midpoint of district play. The Mustangs, now young with three juniors and one sophomore, held a 17-11 lead after one period and 40-29 at halftime.
