The new county court room will be used for the first time Tuesday at 10 a.m. for four criminal actions before County Judge Virgil Lasater and a full jury panel. Cases include negligent homicide against Leo Clifford Aleshire, DUI against Earnest Newton Dunagin, Joe Brown on counts of sale and possession of intoxicating beverages, and two counts of aggravated assault for Scott and Jim Miller.
Four minor traffic accidents occurred in the city last week according to local officers. One involved Bobby W. Wilson hitting a parked pickup owned by Robert Lee Fleming on North east street with about 200 dollars in damage. A second on Monday at North west B and Northwest 1st Streets saw Fred D. Barton collide with a car owned by Jim Daly and Alton Lively of San Antonio causing about 32 dollars in damage. A truck driven by John Canada of Andrews hit a car owned by Carl B. King Drilling Co. of Midland with no injuries. A reckless driving charge was filed Wednesday against John Walter Adams after the pickup he drove rolled over on Southwest A street with 200 dollars in damage.
The Means Memorial Methodist Church hosts The Dawn of Christmas tonight at 7 00 P M. A 45 voice choir directed by Mrs Olna Montgomery performs with soloists Mrs Neil Hays Mrs Brodie Hutchinson Mrs A D Penny and Mrs Reeder Price. Others provide special effects duets and a scripture reading by Harry Cowan.

Jefferson of El Paso captured the sixth annual Andrews Invitational tournament with a 62-53 win over Pecos to repeat as titlists after Pecos led 30-30 at halftime. Odessa Bronchos crushed Monahans 85-55 in the consolation final. Paul Thorpe led Odessa with 35 points while Simmons scored 38 for Pecos before fouling out.
An Andrews delegation met with University of Texas geologist and Midland officials in Midland Friday to discuss a water rights option covering 120 sections in northwest Andrews county. Midland seeks rights to about 20,000 acres with a potential 20 million gallons daily from the Martin Andrews area along Monument draw.
Rita Tabor a 15 year old sophomore from a farming area five miles southeast of town narrowly escaped gas asphyxiation from a heater in the family bathroom. She was found unconscious in the tub and revived with oxygen at Perian General Hospital after quick action by her father and the pastor. Continued observation was ordered.
J. E. Parker's Woodley Petroleum No. 1-G in Central Andrews County produced 364.98 barrels of 49 gravity oil from the Devonian and 367.74 barrels of 44 gravity oil from the Ellenburger in 24 hours, with acid treatments and specific perforation depths. The Bakke multi pay area location lies four miles southeast of Andrews. a neighboring Honolulu Oil No. 5 D Parker test on Devonian interval flowed 156 barrels after a water blanket test.
Final plans for the Christmas Community Sharing Plan were laid at a Saturday meeting. Jaycees report strong cooperation from organizations oil companies schools and others. Sorting and boxing of donated toys food and articles begins Wednesday night at the Youth Center and continues through Saturday. Donations and lists of needy families are still being accepted via the Chamber of Commerce. The Jaycees will pick up donations if desired. An all carton show at Jose Theatre Friday Dec 21 features Santa Claus and a post show candy handout with admission in kind.
Andrews Mustangs host Wink Wildcats Monday night hoping for first victory after four starts. Coach Vernon Johnson expects starters Brice Glover Hart Adams and Sherrard to lead, with Criner Barnett Brewer Burk contending for starts. B team from Kelton Brewer also aims to beat Wink Bees.
The First Baptist Church will present its annual Christmas cantata The Star of Bethlehem on Wednesday at 7 45 P M The work by Elsie Duncan Yole and J Lincoln Hall features choir quartet trio and solo parts with soloists Robert Linville Kathy Camp Jimmy Albritton and Dorothy Ramsey Accompanists are Mrs Carl Paslay and Jerry Torrance Pastor Carl Grissom and choir director Bryan Baker lead the program.
Two Humble Oil and Refining Co workers were feted for long service here last week. Ottie P. Holman, 56, retired after 32 years with Humble, was honored at a Thursday luncheon and Friday dinner party. Charles L. Sparkman, top pusher, completed 30 years and received an engraved watch at the Thursday luncheon. Holman moved to Andrews in 1939 from Cisco after working at Cisco, Cross Cut, Ranger and Breckenridge. He is described as the oldest Means camp resident by years of service.
