Alternates named were John Barfield Karyn Wiseman and Ron Ingram.
The murder trial of John Hall Jeffcoat, accused of shooting his wife Mary Riley Jeffcoat, is reset to January 10 1978 in 109th District Court. The docket also includes six other pending cases and a January 17 19 trial week with E J Guthrie, Juan Rosas Hernandez and others facing oil field theft charges.
A local Mexican American man was seriously wounded Sunday afternoon in a shooting at 303 NE 4th St the home of Jim Wiggins 65. Leopoldo Cruz 29 was later charged with burglary of a vehicle following the investigation by the Andrews Sheriff's Office Deputy Rusty Bartley led the probe. Cruz was shot in the chest and taken to Permian General Hospital where he remained in stable condition Tuesday. Witnesses say Cruz was at Wiggins home late Saturday night and left around noon Sunday then returned about 2 p.m.
