Duane Fitts, an electrical contractor from Andrews, won the runoff for place five on the city council with 395 votes against Josie Rose. The runoff totaled 768 votes, following a regular election where Fitts led by 12 votes. He will join council members Viator Louis Miller, Raymond Shar Hutt, Steve Smith, J. A. Donaldson, and Bubba Hoermann.

County Clerk Opens Saturday for Absentee Voting Hours
The County Clerk’s office will operate 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday for absentee voting in the May primaries, with about 150 votes cast so far. The School Board installed Rose Hutcheson and Conrad Turner, elected officers chosen, and approved expanding the middle school athletic program to include 7th grade interschool play. A square dance exhibition by Star Thrus will be held at 7 p.m. at the Andrews Care Center.

County Accepts Remodeling Bid From Lubbock Firm
Andrews County Commissioners approved Wardroup & Associates bid of 46 400 for interior courthouse remodeling the project expected to take about 60 days. Deadline Set For Entries In Annual Spring Art Show
