An 1885 advertisement from WIlhite & Wilhite, Anderson, claims their Liver and Headache Pills cure a wide range of liver related ailments by stimulating the liver and purifying blood. It asserts safety, vegetable ingredients, and a price of 25 cents per box with emphasis on digestive and nervous symptoms. The item dates from October 15, 1885.

In Equentos near the railroad a negro woman known as Dil Tarrlet left three to five children in a supervised house while she went downtown. The residence caught fire around 2 pm and all three young children perished before the blaze was controlled. A teacher asked a slow pupil what he would do when grown. He replied I will be a school teacher and make the boys do the ciphering.
