Commissioner C B Stevens of Georgia presses farmers to plant a large wheat crop this season, citing poor cotton prospects and the need for a money crop. He advises rapid land preparation, deep plowing, light seed coverage, and specific fertilizer blends. He also stresses oats and rye to support corn shortfalls, warning against any cotton-only approach.
George W. Hughes of Greers Greenville county died from a gunshot wound inflicted by his wife during a domestic quarrel. She is jailed awaiting murder trial. Hughes reportedly refused to call the shooting accidental. A separate grisly crime in Gallville describes a white boy found murdered near Main Street with strangulation and a torn abdomen, prompting city-wide shock and police efforts with no leads as yet.
A deadly shootout on Hancock Street near Thomas Finney’s store leaves W O Finney dead and Tom Finney severely wounded. J R and W B Stanley also suffer critical injuries. two others reportedly shot by stray bullets. Authorities say all involved were armed.Governor and officials have intervened in related cases and reformatories inquiries continue.

Four separate bid types requested: lumber and shingles. core construction with doors sash blinds and hardware. furnishing seats. and painting both interior and exterior.
