Brogon Cotton Mills to Locate West of Anderson Limits
The Brogon Cotton Mills directors plan a new plant just outside Anderson city limits on Whitner Street between Rev. H. S. Fant place and the old Byrom place. A water supply will come from the Byrom branch and a spring, with a three-eighths of a mile side track to connect to the Blue Ridge railroad, in front of the mill. Construction will start after the sidetrack is finished. a two million brick contract is to be let this week. The 126 acre site borders the Blue Ridge line and Cox Mill property, with cottages to be built outside the city limits but stores likely fronting a city street. A village of about 2,000 residents is anticipated for Anderson.
