Constables In Shootout At Dispensary Inn
In Conemara South Carolina Mrs Jah Stuart is reported wounded after a confrontation with state constables at her home near the dispensary inn. One constable was shot in the arm and another in the mouth as Crawford and others argued over a search warrant. The scene drew militia and crowd anger, with calls for punishment. Crawford said he fired from the doorway. Mrs Stuart was struck in the breast area and the house is near the governor’s mansion. The four constables were taken to the penitentiary for safety as tensions remain high.
