July 10, on a private Ogden avenue roof Dr L C Borland’s hospital a sequence of tests used a chest armor woven by inventor Cassimer Zieglen. Five shots from 22 to 44 caliber were fired at ten paces. each washaway with no injury beyond a brief sting. Lieutenant Sarneck fired the first three attempts. Dr Westerschulte and others volunteered to take a turn. no mark appeared on Zieglen’s body. The tests ended with a 43 caliber Colt. observers reported no lasting harm and the crowd marveled at the armor’s apparent invulnerability.
