Graphic account by Surgeon Captain Grey of Ithodésin describes a failed ambush at Mashangombi where 13 horses fell and men were nearly killed. Grey was wounded by an elephant gun while leading the retreat, his horse returning to shield him as natives fired from close range. He mounts again with an injured leg, urging his horse toward escape as the drift exit is cleared. The piece also notes Scottish and English death customs and a testimonial about Chamberlain's Cough Remedy.
A Philadelphia spotlight on bird organs imported from France to train canaries and bull finches. A wooden box drives ten pipes via a crank and bellows, letting a canary imitate tunes in a G to B range. One teacher keeps a single tune per bird, with German aviculturists proving most successful.
York Haven Pa will host one of the nation’s largest electric plants, costing about two to three million dollars with an output of about 20,000 horsepower. Supervisors include H. J.
