Mob Hangs and Burns President McKinley in Effigy
In Ricususo Virginia a western suburb crowd led by William Hattess hanged and burned an effigy of President McKinley and Senator Hanna. Calling themselves the Pie Hill Brigade, Hattess delivered a funeral oration before firing on the effigies with a pistol as others in the crowd fired as well.

Revolver Duel Ends in Waco Tragedy and Death
In Waco Texas editor W C Brann and Capt M T Davis fought a revolver duel on South Fourth street near the Cotter Belt ticket office. Brann suffered wounds to the left lung leg and right foot while Davis was shot in the right lung and both arms. Both men expected to die. Brann died in the early morning. Ward Kennedy Kepler and Prince were wounded. The feud stemmed from Brann Baylor comments and political campaigns.
