Wells Seeks Settlement in East Chicago Teacher Strike
Indiana State Superintendent Richard D. Wells urged a rapid settlement to the six day old East Chicago teachers strike that has closed about half the city’s schools. The board offered a $1,700 raise gap from $5,300 to $7,001, while the federation seeks $8,000, with Krizmis accusing the district of fraud and calling for state aid suspension.
