Lumber Company Wins Damage Suit Against City of Anderson

Salling Lumber Company won a breach of contract suit in county circuit court. Judge A Morris Hall awarded $300 762 76 in damages to Salling for alleged city breach of a 1962 lease authorizing a sanitary landfill on 36 acres along White River. City attorney Marvin Clanin plans an appeal and motions to correct errors within 30 to 45 days.

Phillips Petroleum executives indicted in global tax conspiracy

A federal grand jury indicted Phillips Petroleum Co its board chairman William F Martin and two former chairmen W W Keeler and Stanley F Learned on tax conspiracy charges.
