Kennedy Bill On Rights Commission Sparks Vote Split
President poised to sign a measure to keep the six year old Rights Commission operating beyond September while opposition from Southern lawmakers wanes. The bill would grant permanent status amid a party line roll call and defection by some Southern Democrats. Court notices list Edith E. Pierce v F David Lee Smith and Jack B. Lane v George W. Taylor, with lawyers Ketner, Yelton, Peckmat, Rotruck, Schuyler and LaPierre.
