Sewer To Close Nichol Avenue
Contractors on a seven million dollar sewer project plan to run the line south from 10th Street across Nichol Avenue within two weeks. The John Street sewer is complete from 3rd to 9th Streets with north John Street pavement finished. The new section will extend to 14th Street beside the New York Central Railroad, potentially requiring building moves and utility line relocations including gas pipes, delaying work at Nichol and John Avenues. First short wave broadcast was heard in 1924.

Supreme Court Employee Ruling Sparks Criticism in Indiana
Loganport Indiana. Donald Freehafer head of the Indiana Association for Mental Health criticized a Monday ruling by the Indiana Supreme Court upholding the Jennings Circuit Court decision to reinstate Merle C. Jackson at Muscatatuck School after he was fired for belting a 14 year old female inmate. Freehafer called the decision unfortunate and an invitation to sadism. He argued it blurs lines between wards of the state and children in home care, warning it may reduce mental health administrators authority. Dr Stewart Ginsberg, state mental health commissioner, said the court will be followed and that Jackson will be reinstated with pay as ordered.
