Seattle Hijacker Takes Northwest Jet Toward Mexico

A Seattle bound Northwest Airlines Boeing 727 was seized by a man armed with a bomb and given four parachutes and $200,000 by airline officials. The hijacker released 36 passengers and two flight attendants, kept six crew aboard, planned a Reno refueling then Yuma layover, and threatened to bail out with the rear stairway lowered in flight. The pilot described the demand as the show moving along.

Pendleton Student Loses Arm and Legs in Electric Shock

Thirteen year old Mark Williams, Pendleton Heights Junior High cross country athlete, suffered severe injuries after grabbing an insulator on a utility pole near 6806 Madison Ave. He remains in fair condition after his third operation.
