Seattle Hijacker Takes Northwest Jet Toward Mexico
A Seattle bound Northwest Airlines Boeing 727 was seized by a man armed with a bomb and given four parachutes and $200,000 by airline officials. The hijacker released 36 passengers and two flight attendants, kept six crew aboard, planned a Reno refueling then Yuma layover, and threatened to bail out with the rear stairway lowered in flight.
