The Hungarian crisis shows workers arming in Budapest while the region faces rising fears of Soviet intervention in Egypt. Arab and Western leaders clash over Suez, with U.N. forces mobilizing as Egypt seeks Soviet volunteers and the U.S. weighs UN backed opposition.

Witnesses testified Renton ordered other rookies beaten as part of his drill instruction. The case at the Parris Island training depot involves 16 specifications, with a possible total 20 years and six months in prison. A general court martial was hearing the remaining charges.
In London Sotheby auctioned Izaak Walton's The Compleat Angler volumes for 4620 dollars, far above the 1858 sale price of 141 dollars and 40 cents, highlighting a dramatic rise in value over 98 years.
