Andersons Downtown Facelifting Project Clears Public Hearing
The Andersons move toward a bond financed downtown redevelopment, clearing a public hearing. The plan includes five acquisition sites to extend Central Avenue, provide parking, expand commercial facilities, and construct a multilevel garage. Sherry Gulmire of Madison Heights High School will be honored during National Youth Appreciation Week. She serves as treasurer for the We Speak Co and was named Treasurer of the Year in 1969. Gulmire has three years in Junior Achievement and attended JA conventions in 1970. She plans to stay at the Anderson Public Library after graduation and may study business courses at a college.

Ken Amos of Anderson High School was named among 48 youths honored during National Youth Appreciation Week by the Kikihawen and Area Council of Boy Scouts. He serves as lodge chief of the Order of the Arrow and was elected last January after serving as secretary. Amos is active in band and student government, plans prelaw or medical technology, and hopes to attend Indiana State University next year. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Amos of 1007 North Wood Drive.

The Madison County Council of Governments with 32 members met to learn roles in county planning. COG handles countywide planning and a three year transportation study. The December 8 organizational meeting will name officers and form subcommittees. Anderson School Supt G E Ebbert named acting chairman until a permanent chair is chosen.
